Product Review: MAC Bare Study

Say hello to MAC Bare Study.

I bought this just after Christmas with my vouchers. I was instantly drawn to its beyond beautiful shimmer and colour. But since then I hadn't been using it. Something about the colour just doesn't look as beautiful on my eyes, for me it just doesn't work...

BUT, I decided one day to swatch it and realised that it could potentially make a beautiful highlight... so that is what I did with it, and since then I haven't stopped using it for its unintended purpose.

so you can see how stunning it is on my super pale (NC15) skin, I really don't know how this would work on darker skin, but us pale girls it really is an amazing option for highlight - and that can be a hard thing to come across, I would compare the colour to something like Mary Lou, only a lot more subtle.

Will you be tempted to try this next time at the MAC counter? have you ever used something incorrectly and fallen in love with it? Let me know which things in the comments below

  1. Love that you've found a paint pot thats great for highlighting. I'd fear it would be a bit too thick, but I suppose you could warm it up a little in your fingers. I use Painterly for my eyeshadow base and I can't use anything else. I think you should definitely give it another go on the eyes as a base colour, with a nude shadow over the top and it will keep everything in place all day long!

    Lovely post!

    1. It's odd because this one has a totally different consistency than the usual paint pots, it's a lot thinner, and doesn't last anywhere near as long on the eye... So doesn't work as a base! I think it's because it is shimmery. So is perfect for a highlight instead :) but you have me wanting painterly!

  3. I'm yet to try any MAC Paint Pots but what a gorgeous shade even if it doesn't work on your eyes, at least you get use of it as a highlight x

  7. It looks really nice and natural as a highlight! I've heard Bare Study is a great eyeshadow primer so I was intending to buy it but for whatever reason I've put it off.

    1. I didn't love it as much as a primer, just not as long lasting as the other ones, but it really does make a fab highlight :)
