MakeErinOver Turns 4: A Blog Birthday

Happy Birthday To The Blog!

With every year that passes - I am shocked I am still blogging. I know, I know. I should be saying hard work pays off and talking about commitment and how much it has grown. But the reality is it hasn't. My blog hasn't changed much in the past year - my Instagram and Twitter followers are the same, as are Bloglovin' and views - nothing has changed here on the blog. But my life has changed.
The blog I now consider to be a part of my life, it does not consume or run it - it is just a part of it. I do not wish to be a full-time blogger, I have no plans of being a big influencer, I just want to be me - and keep my little corner of the internet.

The blog has definitely taken less of a priority in my life, even my photography is nowhere near as good as I would want it to be. I wish I had more time to interact, use Instagram stories, try lots of makeup and wear different looks daily - but my life is so different to what it was 4 years ago when I started this blog.

in 2015, my son was 3, he had started nursery and I was bored with all the excess time. I still worked part-time over the weekends, but I had no ambitions other than the long term relationship I was in at the time. I started my blog through boredom I think - I needed something to do, something to work on. I loved makeup and reading about it - so I thought why not?

The blog has been constant in the past four years. Not much here has changed. Once you get yourself into a routine of writing up a post a few times a week it is hard to get out of it. So I just kept doing it, over and over and over. Over 800 times. It helped me through the eventual breakdown of the relationship. It helped me gain confidence to apply for the Access To Nursing course back in 2016, it then pushed me on when it didn't work to get me into university - putting me back to college to do more highers. It now it is here, throughout my Midwifery Degree.

I didn't mean for this to turn into a miserable post, but I will not lie and say the blog provides me with a lifestyle or a future laid out in front of me like some - it is simply a part of my life, a part that I enjoy. One I won't stop anytime soon. The joy of blogging through hobby is that I can say "no" - a lot, I can write about whatever I want, and hope to not get caught up in the numbers of it all. I can simply enjoy the aspects of blogging I like - and not worry about all the rest. The best of both worlds.

What I will say, is thank you to each and every one of you who takes the time to read my little corner of the internet, the blogger friends I have made. It really does mean the world to me to know my ramblings are appreciated in some way or another.

Here's to another 4 years?
