L'Oreal True Match Concealer Review & Swatches

L'Oreal True Match Concealer Review & Swatches

I don't know if it is just me, but every time any brand launches a new concealer I get a little hopeful that it will be the next best thing, the next tarte shape tape (which I still haven't tried btw).

So when I seen that L'Oreal had launched a new True Match concealer to go alongside their true match foundation range - I was more than a little excited. Everyone loves the true match foundation, the shade range they have rivals high end brands, so I was excited to see what their palest shade would be.

I would typically opt for a drug store concealer if I knew I could find a shade pale enough to suit my skin, but most often the palest shade is my skin tone - so totally useless when it comes to concealing under eyes etc.

This range comes in an incredible 14 shades, which is totally new for drugstore (Most brands have 2-3) - so its so good to see a brand actually showing diversity in shade range! Go L'Oreal!

Unfortunately the shade range is the only highlight of this concealer to me, as much as I was excited to try it.

I must admit I did have high hopes, knowing L'Oreal owns Urban Decay (and their concealer is incredible) I was seriously hoping they had just taken inspiration from them, em no. They have not. Well they have with regards to the shade range, just not the formula unfortunately.

The formula is really running, very thin and just doesn't build up well at all, then when you blend it doesn't really cover anything. The picture below is me wearing it - but I also have on high coverage foundation (Sorry isn't the best to show the actual effects)

But the worst part of this to me is the scent. I can typically handle a scented makeup item, I normally quite enjoy it. My foundation that I use is scented, as are the lipsticks I enjoy too - but the scent really irritates my eyes. It actually stings them, and my eyes are not sensitive. The sensation doesn't last, and if this product worked beautifully it would be something I would put up with - but as it doesn't - so it's just fuel on the fire in this situation.

Overall, a complete fail from me *cries* the hunt for the perfect concealer continues.
