Life Update: Feeling Overwhelmed

I don't really know where I am going with this post, but I wanted to say something, to explain why I am all over the place right now, not commenting as much, not doing as much on social media etc... a little life update into what is going on with me...

So, back in July I applied for a course at college for Access to Nursing, I was accepted onto a waiting list... by mid August I still hadn't been emailed, so it was looking like I wasn't going to be accepted this year... I dealt with that, decided to look for more experience at the hospital, but really focus more on the blog while AJ was at school.

Roll on 29th August. Now the course start date was 29/08/16, I was called that day to be told I had a place. I had to arrange my funding & bursary, get supplies, sort out breakfast club and after school club for AJ, all for the following day... talk about stressful...

So anyway, its been a good few weeks now, things are beginning to settle down, but it has settled down to Chaos. Welcome to our lives.

So between AJ & I, we are run riot. I work 16 hours a week, AJ is at school 5 days, Contact with his Dad, Swimming lessons... we are exhausted pretty much 24/7

Plus I now live with a huge amount of guilt of not spending enough time with him...

So on top of all of this, I have also had issues with AJ's childminder, plus I am also having to apply to do distance learning for Higher English... oh and I have University Open Days, applying for Midwifery is a nightmare, fighting for 70 spaces with over 900 applicants is not good or easy...

Then there is the blog....

Now I LOVE my blog. I have worked so hard to get it where it is at today, it is something I am HUGELY proud of, and I love and appreciate each and every one of you that reads it...

But I need to admit I am struggling... AJ has to come first, then college work and uni, the blog has had to come last. So I feel like I am not being a good blogger or reader to you all, so I need to look at my schedule and figure out something more managable, and I really hope you all don't mind... but the posts will be less. But the quality will be much better than what it has been the past few weeks (eg I am currently writing this at work on my phone during break... not ideal)

I'm not stopping I am just saying if I don't post for a few days... thats why! If you want to keep up to date with me give me a follow on SnapChat = MakeErinOver... its the only thing I am managing to deal with at the moment lol.

Now, does anyone have any tips on managing a hectic life? I am so not used to this! Let me know in the comments below :)

I would LOVE it if you could follow me on Bloglovin' (I follow back too)

  1. Ah Erin, sounds super Hectic at the moment! I feel like life has waves of feeling super overwhelmed with everything, every element of life gets a bit crazy! I would say my tips are trying to just dedicate one hour a day or one evening a week to doing nothing. Spend some time reading, watching Netflix, giving yourself a bit of a pamper or doing something fun with AJ. Although it is tough now, all the hard work will pay off! It always does :) Immy x

  2. I certainly don't have as many serious commitments the way you do Erin with college work and a child, but I think all of us struggle at some point evaluating our time and how best to spend it. Weekly planners, keeping my iphone calendar up to date and synced with family and friends, writing down deadlines and notes with online reminders so I don't miss anything all help me, although they all sound pretty obvious! (Your bullet journal is a great idea) I also try to schedule time that isn't baking for a event or writing a post at midnight or 'just getting ahead for the next day' which turns into more work. They are all things I love or enjoy doing but even ten minutes of reading in bed with a peppermint tea just removes me from everything and I can just catch my breath for five minutes! Good luck with your recent life changes, I'm sure you will get on just wonderfully.

  3. I have no advice other than don't waste your time feeling guilty and don't expect to be able to do everything perfectly at once. As as single Mom I have learnt that I am always going to have a million balls in the air and that some need to be dropped. And that is okay. Emma x

  5. It sounds like you are super busy at the moment! When I went to working full-time, I dropped my blog schedule right down and it took a bit of time for me to figure out how I could get myself organised. I still find it difficult now, but having a set schedule does help me to figure everything out! :) xxx

  6. I think you are doing extremely well and should be proud of yourself, you are setting up a future and career for yourself and of course your son so well done on even being able to open blogger let alone blog! I weirdly find Pinterest to be helpful for planning (as long as you don't fall down the I-can-make-anything-out-of-a-mason-jar trap), there seems to be ideas for everything. Best of luck with everything :) x

  7. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate and blogging should be at the bottom of your priorities even though I understand how much you love and am passionate about it. Real life comes first and don't worry about us your readers, we'll be here when you're back.

  8. I can't imagine how hard it would be to balance uni, a child, and a blog as I can barely manage to upload and do my homework! Congrats on getting into the course and don't worry, your blog will still be here when you have more time! x

  9. Hooray for getting onto the course, excellent news. Entirely understandable that your priorities have shifted, don't feel back about it. Most folk that aren't doing nearly as much still only post about once a week, so I'd be impressed if you manage that! We'll be here, focus on you and getting your shit in order. Good luck with it all!!

  10. When life gets hectic like that you need to prioritise and it is so understandable that AJ and college/uni come first, it should be that way anyway. Just take your time and get into the routine, once you have a certain routine you can squeeze a little bit of blogging every now and then. Good luck!

  13. You've got a handful going on, sweetie. But guess what, as much as it's all overwhelming now, it all happened/is happening for a reason and will show amazing results in the day to come!! The best is yet to come, right? AJ definitely comes first as well as your edu & work. Plus, you! Don't forget about yourself in the equation. You've done an incredible job with your blog and believe me, it's not going anywhere. Work out a pace that suits you and your family, and we will all still be here!!! ;)
Much love your way, babes <3
