Make Up Geek Eyeshadow HAUL! & Swatches

I can feel a new obsession starting. This is going to be bad. Really bad. I need them all.

#makeupproblems

Say hello to the nine new additions to my Make Up Forever Palette ( post ) after a good month of looking online I finally placed an order on beauty bay for some Make Up Geek Shadows, and I must say... I am so impressed.

I am a MAC girl through and through, but DANG these are amazing.. and I cannot believe I am going to say this, but I think I actually prefer them to MAC shadows. They are soft, creamy, super pigmented and super blendable, one swatch and there is pure colour, I cannot rave about these enough (but I will try)

So here is an intro on my first nine, why I picked them and swatches.

Chickadee - Aaaah I am so in love with this colour. I have been eying up MAC Rule for so long now, but was always put off by just how orange it is, but Chickadee was somewhere between Rule & Texture, super warm in colour but less orange. I think this will look beautiful with a warm shimmery eye, using this as a base around the edges & crease. So beautiful.

Crème Brulee - This is such a stunning base shade, so warm in tone and really the perfect pair for Chickadee, I don't own any other matte colour as warm as this, so looking forward to using this.

Frappe - Frappe is slightly pinker and darker than Crème Brulee, but equally as stunning and wearable. I really needed more colours like this for my palette, and this one works beautifully.

Homecoming - A champagne shimmer, golden, pinky high intense shimmer that is going to be beautiful all over the lid. This one will be great for when I am in a hurry, one wash wonder

Glamorous - Homecoming I would say is the most disappointing shade. Very similar to MAC amber lights, but just not as pigmented. Hard one to beat, but still an excellent quality, just feel MAC would be the better option here - but only slightly.

Grandstand - I have never swatched anything like this. Think pigment, then x10. It is so thick, and so creamy. Grandstand is part of the "Foiled" range, and the closest thing I could compare it to is using a MAC pigment pot - there is no way anything is showing through this shadow... I think I need some more. Grandstand is thee most stunning bronze gold shade, I really didn't need another bronzey gold.... but heck its just so beautiful.

Ritzy - Now this one is something different. Ritzy is part of their duo chrome range. So in the pan this shade looks green, swatch it and it becomes brown with green flecks. Interesting. Really looking forward to seeing how these look throughout the day, which colour shines out more.

Havoc - This is the same duo chrome effect as Ritzy, only it has cooler tones, blueish taupe colour, also changes depending on light.

Burlesque - This was something different for me, a lot darker (and non brown) that what I would typically go for, but I am hoping I will use it, its still warmed toned, shimmery and definitely fits in well with my palette.

So there is my collection so far, if you are looking for good review/swatch posts I found Jasmine Talks Beauty Post (here)  and Emmy's Beauty Cave (here)  really useful when trying to decide.

  1. I adore MUG eyeshadows. The price point for the quality is amazing. You've picked some lovely colours, they all look like they would pair beautifully together.
I hope MUG get released in stores soon here! x

    1. Oooo that would be amazing to swatch them all in a store, but saying that I would have zero money left all the time if they did that lol :)

  2. We have a few similar shades! I also bought Ritzy, Havoc, Burlesque and Creme Brûlée in my first batch of MUG shadows. I know what you mean about constantly googling swatches and being undecided on which to pick up, though. I've got a few more in my basket at the moment but I'm always changing and adding more because I can't seem to decide which to buy. A MUG shadow I would definitely recommend is Shimma Shimma. It's the most insanely gorgeous highlight. A definite must have!

  11. I have been eyeing these eye shadows for ages now! I just haven't been able to decide where to start and what to get. So this was definitely a very good post for me. I'm still trying to decide whether to build a palette of my own with MUG or Inglot. I've heard really good things about both brands.
The shades you chose are so pretty though! I'm sure I'd go for very similar ones <3
PS. So glad to be back and being able to catch up with your blog <3
    Have a lovely weekend <3

  16. Homecoming, Grandstand and Frappe are three of my ultimate favourites! I've actually not tried any of the duo chrome shades as it's so hard to tell what they'll look like but I love the look of Havoc actually. Glad my post was helpful in deciding which to go for! I slightly prefer Amber Lights to Glamorous too, though overall I feel I prefer MUG to MAC xx
